Eibsee Meeting 2016: October 26-28, 2016

26.10.2016 – 28.10.2016

General Information:

We started out with co-organizing the Eibsee Meeting together with the Priority Program of the DFG on "Molecular Mechanisms of Alzheimer's Disease". This meeting has become over the years the most important international conference on AD within Germany.

At this conference German AD researchers found a platform to discuss their data with the international community and to initiate collaborations all over the world. In 2005, when the Collaborative Research Centre co-organized this meeting we broadened the focus of the meeting to molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in general.

According to the idea behind the concept of our Collaborative Research Center we brought together the leading scientists in the fields of Parkinson, Alzheimer's, Frontotemporal Dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders to discuss the similarities of the diseases mechanisms (see also the special issue of Neurodegenerative Diseases, 3, 2006).

Since this time we have a focus on novel aspects regarding in vivo analysis of Aß in patients and the neurotoxic activity of Aß oligomers.

Co-funding of the Eibseemeeting by the Hans & Ilse Breuer Foundation

After the Priority Program terminated upon six extremely productive years (six years is the maximum funding time of Priority Programs), the meeting is co-organized by the SFB 596 and the Hans & Ilse Breuer Foundation. Moreover, the Hans & Ilse Breuer Foundation takes over up to 75% of the costs of this meeting. This will allow us to continue to organize this annual high profile conference with leading scientists from all over the world.
