Biophysics platform

Our Biophysics Lab focuses on techniques involving purification and analyses of lipids and proteins involved in research of neurodegenerative diseases.

Main projects have been biophysical studies of the interaction of α-synuclein and γ-secretase with lipids. Collaborations exist with several members of the Christian Haass lab, the Biophysics lab of Prof. Thorsten Hugel at the TUM, the Physics Department of the LMU (Dr. Bert Nickel) and the ZNP of the LMU (Prof. Armin Giese).

The biophysics platform also offers a one week lab course on spectroscopic techniques to medicine students of the LMU.
